Duelyst is a popular collectible card game that was launched in 2016 by Counterplay Games Inc. and publisher BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America. It features aspects of both traditional CCG games, tabletop gaming, and turn-based combat. There are single player and multiplayer options, and the game supports cross-platform play.
Like with many CCGs, in Duelyst you’ll start by creating a deck of cards that you’ll use in combat. Games are played head-to-head, and the aim is to defeat your opponent. There’s so much more to the game than this simple premise, however. With over 800 cards spanning six different factions, the combinations are almost endless.
There’s a high amount of strategy involved in Duelsyt. You’ll need to out-think your enemies in the 5-10 minute battles, using all of your cunning and tactical know-how to gain an advantage. The winner receives new cards for their efforts, and with over 500 battle unit cards, there’s plenty to collect.
The game also has a Draft mode, where you assemble an initial deck of cards and must fight on for as long as you can. If you last long enough, you’ll get rewards, and the longer you last, the greater the prize. Don’t get complacent though, Duelyst is an unforgiving game. It’s also a beautiful one, and artists from both Rogue Legacy and Overwatch worked on the design.
