How do the rankings work?

Just curious, but I have a lot more bananas than it says in the rankings, and some people in the top 10 have ~50 bananas and almost no XP. Do they buy bananas or something?

The ranking is based on "Bananas earned this month" so it will reset your ranking every month :) (It only counts bananas won by playing games)
