alter ego mobile review

Alter ego is a clicker style game centred around mental health and self discovery that is free to download on mobile. For age rating while this game does not contain bad language or anything explicit it may be a bit confrontational or unnerving for some so id recommend that anyone who plays this is teen and up to handle the information about yourself the game provides as well as understand the message. I personally feel when it comes to reading its player based on the quizzes it can be very accurate, to add to this the clicker game changes as you progress. While you use points to flick through books you will gain quotes in the form of your thought bubbles and some that will come from the result of your quizzes representing your own thoughts. As you click these thought bubbles you will gain more points however it will cause more to spawn and faster like a feedback loop often seen in those with mental illness. While unnerving I must commend the game developers for making this accurate to real life to an extent.

The main character you will interact with is called es that resides in the library. At times she while stoic seems to greatly care but at other times can feel manic or dangerous. Your decisions and amount of times playing through can also affect her ending as the world changes slowly the more you interact and read. I also must commend the game for their great selection on books in the library you click on as it can often have the side effect of encouraging the player to look more into these masterpieces of novels based on their quotations that may resonate with them. It is also nice that you are given the option to retake the quiz if you watch a video in exchange the same for increasing the amount of points received for 10 minutes per add. Often pop ups are a problem in free games however this game encourages watching ads it does not force them upon you. The same for levels as you can progress to more quizzes whenever you wish without any consequence to your game play if you don't log in for a day.

As for the goal and records section both are nice additions. The goals are easy enough to achieve without being a giveaway off the bat. As for the records these allow you to look back on your previous quiz results all coming as shards to slowly fill in a mirror to show your true psyche. I feel this metaphor is very deep but also in its own way beautiful and very well done. Overall this game considering its free price is very well done and definitely worth the time. I also must give the design team credit for making a essentially all black and white game barring the butterflies to look so complex despite being relatively simplistic. The music is also quite soothing but this can be unnerving compared to the deep rooted emotions this game can comment on. I do feel a warning that the game may be upsetting to some should be added; if you are not emotionally prepared to see yourself in a brutal light then this game may not be for you. However if you are curious and up for it id highly recommend this game to you.
