There is More than Just the Base Game - It's as Infinite as its Worlds
I'll start off by introducing Minecraft for those of you who don't know about it yet. Minecraft is a sandbox video game that can be played very differently depending on your tastes. The base game will feature a blockly and pixelated landscape. In the game, you are put into an endless world in which you can discover a large variety of animals and mobs as you try to survive each night. While the world is made of blocks, the graphics in this game are amazing.
But single-player survival mode isn't all that it has to offer. The base game also comes with a hardcore mode for those of you who like challenges, and also a creative mode in which there is nothing to worry about, and you can build the stuff of your dreams. Outside of the base game, you can join various servers to play different gamemodes with other players online.

I got Minecraft and played much before Microsoft acquired it, and I'm happy to say that they are doing better than I expected. We can't expect everything to be perfect right? After Microsoft acquired it, I've seen new content be added, although I don't play as much anymore. Of course, the best part about this game is the vast amount of player-created content. There are countless texture packs, maps, servers, mods, and plugins for almost everything you can think of. With all of this content, there is always something for everyone.
In 2014, Minecraft, along with Mojang, was bought by Microsoft. The creater, Markus Persson, sold it in order to "move on with [his] life." But that isn't important. The important thing is that even through big changes, Minecraft continues to evolve as it did before. Even as of now, there is a new update set to come out this year for all platforms: "Update Aquatic". My belief is that Minecraft will continue to be a game to be played, even years later, due to its capability to grow, from both developers and the community.

I personally have many friends who avoid Minecraft now like it's the plague (with the exception of one person who is looking for others to play with :c). It's not that bad. Minecraft still has content you can enjoy, you just have to find it. Personally, I think the best part about the game is being able to play with your friends. This can be said for just about every game though, but I think Minecraft is one of those games where having more people increases the fun, as there will be more fun (and dumb) ideas for things to do in this ever expanding game. For this game in particular, I would've never played it if I didn't have other people to play with. I think if you have friends who would like to play, then go right ahead! I'm sure there will be fun things to do, provided that you are willing to look deeper than the base game.
